Mad lib style signup form
Ron and his team ran some A/B testing online that compared a traditional Web form layout with a narrative "Mad Libs" format. In Vast.com's testing, Mad Libs style forms increased conversion across the board by 25-40%. —Luke Wroblewski
I am still thinking through all implications. I thought it refreshing when I first saw this style on huffduffer.

I noticed it when I signed up for Huffduffer some time ago (there's a lot about that site I really like).
Luke's post about conversion is interesting and shows the value of trying A/B testing, but I worry that designers will latch on this and they'll be everywhere, regardless if it works for the site or not.

I have the same concerns. When executed well, it will function well. However, as we see trends emerge in the web development community, many people will abuse these patterns. It's nice to see some examples of people doing it well, though.
