iPhone Activation
I purchased an 8GB iPhone for my wife this evening. We purchased it from an Apple Retail Store. I was initially concerned about getting her phone moved to this account. To my surprise, as soon as it was connected to iTunes the first option was 'Move another line to this phone.' I clicked on that option and within less than ten minutes the phone was activated and up and running.
I must say, this iPhone is pretty incredible. Even down to the tiniest details.
My wife's response?
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

Can we expect a review of the iPhone in the typical Nate K fashion? (flipped photo included) :P
That's cool you got an iPhone. How long did you have to wait in line to get it?

I stood in line at saddle creek for about 3 seconds when i got there at 7:45. I was surprised they still had any...i guess memphis isn't quite the right market. This thing is freaking awesome!

I told you so! Man you're so predictable :)
Well, all I can say is congrats. If the number of iPods I own are any sign, I'll be waiting quite a while to own an iPhone.

Well it is T plus 48hr and counting and still no activation of my iphone. I am glad to hear it is awesome, I hope it proves to be worth the wait! I have gotten the run around from AT&T, in the nicest ways possible, on what the problem is. Although they have been nice, I am still disgusted with having no results. These guys have no clue how to solve many of the problems. I saw the announcement from apple about it being no more than a few dozen of us still waiting, but that is not what they tell me at AT&T. WHO is telling the truth, and when will my phone be activated so that I can see how great it really is?????????

Looking for the Real Scoop... Tomorrow I should receive my iPhone. Although it's an AT&T Branded phone is there anymore I need to do, other than slipping my current AT&T / Cingular SIM card in the phone for basic service?
Or, in the Big RUSH and Hub Bub, am I going to have to succumb to some New Service or Add On's... So, if anyone could just clear up my paranoia issues, it would be really appreciated. Any other thoughts or Hacks would be welcome too. Let there be an iPhone God.

@Rick
As I said earlier - it was really simple to activate a phone if you already have their service. You just use the iTunes interface - no messing with cards or anything (unless there is another way I don't know about).
You should not succumb to any service or add-ons.
My only thoughts: You will love the phone! Take some time to learn your way around, then using it for any of your tasks will be a breeze!

Rick Hi, don't know if you got your iphone activated but will tell you, if your switching your sim card from your old phone to your new iphone you will have to upgrade your service to for the iphone. I believe it is called iphone data 200
Thank you

Hey Rick and other waiting customers of the new iphone, I am a supervisor for the iphone activations. i must say this has been one of the most grueling tasks i have yet to see in my job. To clear things up, the activation portion for this phone was yes very clever but not fully thought out and planned. For many people activation is a breeze and can be done in a matter of minutes without having to deal with any support. For other that get lost in the proccess it can be very tedious. There are many hoops that you have to jump through before even using your phone as an mp3 player. The reason for some that it takes so long for the activation is the process apple has nade to activate port over number from other providers. i have seen many customers return to the store several times to switch there sim cards. If i can give anyone any advice about this phone is ensure during the process of activation make sure that you put in your own information that corresponds to the person activating it. (ex. if its your name under the phone, make sure its your SSN etc.) countless times customers have to begin the process all over as they filled the information in wrong. other than that i haqve heard nothing but good reviews on it and i cant wait for it to be launched in Canada. Good luck to everynoe. If your wondering anything about the activation post a reply and ill get back to you.
