Now, don't get me wrong - I take security very seriously. But the latest surge of news sites (Most of which are Microsoft related) are throwing up articles left and right about critical flaws, bugs, trojans, worms , [insert word here]. Quite frankly, it only shows how ignorant these companies (including the security companies) are. They can't even seem to get their stories/facts straight as to what happens. I am thankful for those in the MAC community who set the story straight and eliminate the FUD that is so easily spread via the Internet. The funny part about all of it is, since last weeks 'Trojan Leap-A', every security company and their mother are bringing up ANY possible exploit - even if it has already been patched for years or months. Are they really that clueless? Is news really that slow and boring that they are digging up things from YEARS ago? Quite honestly - they lose credibility when they do things like this (especially those related to Microsoft....hmm). All the companies seem to 'come to life' when this starts spreading, ultimately trying to sell their virus scanners for MACS (hmm.....). Get a MAC and you will be secure - just don't download/open files from unknown sources. It is NOT like the PC world where everything can spread like a wildfire without the user even knowing it (which is what the PC world is wishing to happen to MACs). So, for now I will continue to be smug about it until some real facts surface. The List (I will continue to add the articles as I find them)
